{Over 1,500 staff of Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) have been trained as plans get underway to introduce a digital method of registering medical insurance subscribers, other than notebooks and index-cards, as they seek medical services at health centers to speed delivery of services.}
In an interview with IGIHE , Rulisa Alex, the head of medical insurance services at RSSB has revealed that the anticipated technology will commence January 2016.
“RSSB has organized trainings on usage of the technology at district levels and health center workers in medical insurance to build their knowledge in using the new technology,” he said.
Uwamahoro Zainabu, head of medical insurance department at Mareba Health Center has explained that physical registration delayed services and some documents got lost.
The new technology will use a software where patients’/subscribers’ bio-data and identifications will be captured before accessing medical services.
The training started on 25th November will end on 15th December. Training will be ongoing and there will be no more use of papers and notebooks for registration beyond 1st Feb 2016.
