150 Rwandans repatriate from DRC

{150 Rwandan refugees have repatriated from Democratic Republic of Congo after 21 years of refuge. They arrived in Rwanda Wednesday morning and have been settled in the provisional refugee camp of Nkamira, Rubavu district.}

In an interview with IGIHE, Kamanzi Straton, the leader of Nkamira camp said that the camp usually receives the number of similar refugees every week where they are accommodated and given food rations for three months, domestic equipments and learn Rwandan history as well as current policy of Rwandan government after which they are reintegrated in their families.

During the process of identifying repatriated refugees’ homes, the camp records refugees identities and transfer them into their families where small challenges are managed by local leaders while other difficulties that local leaders are unable to resolve, including housing, are addressed by Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugee Affairs (MIDIMAR).

Refugees hosted in the camp are from various inhabited and forests land of DRC.
Repatriated FDLR militias are provisionally accommodated in Mutobo reintegration center where they get acquainted with values.

A total of 61 families were transported by UNHCR to Rwanda.
