Zambia: Edgar Lungu to feel the weight of deporting a Rwandan Priest”

{Some Catholic Bishops in Zambia are said to be saying it was payback time for Edgar Lungu who as Minister of Home Affairs embarrassingly deported a Catholic Priest Father Viateur Banyangandora to Rwanda, his country of origin from Lundazi for showing concern for the poor.}

The Lusaka High Court has declared that Justice and Defence Minister Edgar Lungu was duly elected by the Extra-ordinary General Conference which was held in Kabwe over the weekend as Zambia’s Patriotic Front President.

Zambia Watchdog quoted sources saying Lungu’s association with Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister Nkandu Luo who he has promised the vice-presidency will work against the party in some parts of Northern Province because it is Luo who has distabilised the Chitimukulu and the Bemba Kingdom.

A source said if Edgar Lungu has forgotten what he did to the Catholic Church, this will be the time he will be reminded for the number of deportation orders he signed during his tenure as Home Affairs Minister.

“Politicians forget very fast. Who was the Minister of Home Affairs when a Catholic priest from Lundazi was bundled in the vehicle by State agents flown to Lusaka and deported to Rwanda? Is it not Edgar Lungu? So let him now also feel the weight,” the source said.

And PF aspirant candidate Lungu’s association with late president Michael Sata’s enemies and certain ministers may cost the ruling party an election, according to the PF and OP sources.

“Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Luo is supporting Lungu because she wants to install his elder brother Chief Chewe as the new Chitimukulu instead of Henry Kanyanta Sosala who has already been recognized by the Bemba council of elders Ba Shilubemba but rejected by Luo,” OP sources said.

Sources wondered how Lungu wants to carry Sata’s legacy when he is embracing all the people that Sata discarded and actually gave the late president too much pressure as well.

The likes of ABZ president Fr. Frank Bwalya and Mike Mulongoti of Zambia People’s Pact (ZPP) all fought late Sata till his death and are now Lungu’s advisors.

People like Brian Hapunda, Emmanuel Mwamba, Anthony Mukwita were all fired by late president Sata for crooked behavior but they are now senior advisors to Lungu, the man who wants to carry Sata’s legacy.

Among the many people and business community Lungu deported includes Chilanga cement Managing Director Folayinka Esan who was bundled, denied access to his lawyers, Pamodzi Hotel Managing Director, an American volunteer, Jacqueline Frances Walsh, Managing Director of Fidelity Security Services, Noah Pasvani who Lungu deported to Zimbabwe, and many others.
