{POLICE has retrieved the body of a four year old pupil of Divine Nursery School, Salaama from a neighbour’s pit latrine in Masajja Kibira Zone B in Wakiso district.}
Mike Lubega, a builder saw the body of Nadia Nakaccwa on Tuesday at about 10am while doing construction work, near the pit latrine.
Lubega said the area reeked of a foul smell and the contractors suspected that an animal had been dumped in the pit latrine but to his surprise, he saw the body of the girl who disappeared from his parents six days ago.
Immediately Lubega informed the neighbours who notified David Mayanja, the area chairman who in turn alerted police about the discovery.
Juma Lubega the father to the deceased said last Wednesday, he and his wife Irene Nakalema left for work early that morning leaving their children in the care of Shaluwa Nanyonjo, a housemaid.
He added that on the fateful day it rained heavily and he returned home at about 3pm to check on the children. Upon arrival the maid informed him that after preparing breakfast at 10am, she looked for Nakaccwa but she was nowhere to be seen.
Both parents allege that their child was first killed and then dumped in the pit latrine.
ASP Ayeta Rebecca, the Officer in charge of Salaama police, said that they received a report from the parents of the deceased about the disappearance of their child six days ago.
Nakaccwa’s body was taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for a postmortem.
Ayeta cautioned parents and elders to keep a keen eye on their children during the holidays.
