Independent Presidential candidate John Patrick Amama Mababzi has said he will not persecute President Museveni if he retires peacefully.
“I stood against Museveni because I am the only person who will not persecute him while at his home in Rwakitura,” Mr Mbabazi said at a rally in Kamwenge Town on Monday.
Mr Mbabazi held rallies in the sub counties of Biguri, Bwizi, Nkoma, Kahungye, Kamwenge Town Council in Kibale County, before winding up at Ntara Sub-county in Kitagwenda County.
He becomes the fourth presidential candidate to campaign in Kamwenge District after Dr Kizza Besigye of FDC, Independent candidate Prof Venansius Baryamureba and Mr Museveni of the ruling NRM party.
At Kamwenge Primary School playground, Mr Mbabazi said he is still a member of the NRM party.
“I want to tell you that I am a member of NRM, but the NRM which is free from corruption and with economic and political stability,” he told his supporters.
Mr Mbabazi said he will relieve local people of commercial banks which are only affordable to rich people.
The Go Forward candidate exited many when he promised to clear loans for local debtors, whose debt burden is below Shs5 million acquired from registered financial institutions.
Kitagwenda County MP Nulu Byamukama, who accompanied Mr Mbabazi, said President Museveni is incapable of accomplishing his unfulfilled pledges in the next five years.
