South African Student Killed in Satanic Ritual

{{In a south African school, Lukhanyo Secondary School, a student Keamogetswe Sefularo, believed to have been killed in a satanist attack, is being laid to rest today. }}

The funeral will be at Mohlakeng in Randfontein on Gauteng’s West Rand.

Sefularo died after she was lured into the veld last Friday and stabbed in the chest, throat and abdomen, allegedly by a friend from her school. The attacker allegedly claimed to be a satanist.

Ten other learners at the school have been suspended on suspicion of satanist activities. Lukhanyo Secondary School Deputy Principal Philip Sekokolo says satanism is not rife at the school. ”

“We are not sure about the numbers when we admit leaners. They do not have a sign that they are members of the cult. Our duty is to teach learners. We don’t have the skill to identify members of the satanic cult. I can not say satanism is rife because we are not sure.”

Meanwhile, the Gauteng Department of Education has instituted an investigation into Sefularo’s death.

Gauteng Education MEC Barbara Creecy visited the school.

She said: “In this matter, there are allegations of harmful religious practices and what we are going to be doing as we normally do in these particular situations is, we will be doing an independent investigation into that.”

The learner who has been charged with murder appeared in the Randfontein Margistrates Court. She has been suspended from the school and is being kept in a place of safety. Her case will be heard next Tuesday.

“The district director did suspend 10 learners. These are learners who were not directly involved necessarily in the incident, but learners who have had allegations about being involved in harmful practices made against them.

I think really what we want to do at this stage is to assure parents at the school and learners that they are safe,” said Creecy.
