Somalia: MP Escapes Assassination Attempt in Mogadishu Attack

A member of Somali parliament was wounded after suspected Al shabaab attackers in a speeding car sprayed a hail of bullets on his vehicle in Mogadishu’s Hamar-Jajab district on Tuesday morning.

The MP – Mohamed Ali Dahaye sustained serious injuries in the drive-by-shooting incident, while his driver and a bodyguard were confirmed killed in the shooting, witnesses said.

“The legislator Sustained bullet wounds all over his body and was transported to a nearby hospital where he is currently being operated,” said a witness.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but Al shabaab has carried out similar attacks against Lawmakers, security officers in the past.
