Nyamasheke : District authorities made clear that Nyamasheke feeder roads financing by kingdom of Netherlands was not suspended as earlier communicated by some newspaper.

After reading the news title” Netherlands suspends Nyamasheke road construction over impropriety” I moved toward Mayor of Nyamasheke district , Kamali Aimee Fabien to know exactly how come to loose aids that was reserved to the citizens due to unprofessional conduct , he replied the following.

In order to facilitate small farmers to access the market , the Ministry of Agriculture through its feeder roads program negotiated financing to rehabilitate 26.5 Km of roads in Nyamasheke district .In order to implement the project through the procurement framework approach, Nyamasheke district has negotiated with Reserve force to implement the project.

Contrarily to what was earlier communicated that financing has been suspended, the Nyamasheke district Executive secretary confirmed with evidence that it is not the case, however it was wrongly reported previously by the reporter.

As per the normal process, Nyamasheke district executive secretary confirmed that the study for those roads rehabilitation was conducted properly in consultation with RTDA, MINAGRI and other stakeholders .He added that the study was also done after the financing negotiation which is different to what was reported that it has been a financing basis. He added that reported sectors do not even coincide with does 25.6 km like Gihombo, cyato and Bushenge.

Nyamasheke district Mayor proved that Nyamasheke residents would not have worries about those roads as the contractor is ready to start the process of rehabilitation by Mid Mayor and promised to finish the process of rehabilitation by December 2016.
