Nigeria: Minister Urges NASU to Embrace Dialogue in Crisis Management

{Prof. Isaac Adewole, the Minister of Health, on Thursday urged Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) to embrace dialogue in crisis management in the education sector.}

Adewole made the plea in Abuja at the ongoing 6th Quadrennial National Delegates’ Conference of the union.

The minister said that the union constitutes a stabilising factor in the university system, urging NASU members to always engage in dialogue instead of strike.

Adewole also urged the union members to support the Minister of Education in reviving and developing the educational sector.

“NASU constitutes a key factor in the university system and must always seek the power of dialogue and engagement in crisis management in their various establishments.

“A well-motivated staff is key to the progress of any organisation.

“A worker is an asset and not a liability to any organisation, therefore, he must be recognised as the most important tool for production,” he said.

The union also presented a fellowship award to the minister for his outstanding performance in the education sector.

Mrs Ladi Iliya, NASU president, said that the award was in recognition and appreciation of the minister’s contributions and development during his tenure as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan. (NAN)
