{Two men on Sunday were knocked dead by a speeding army truck along the Kanungu –Rukungiri road.}
The truck was among those escorting President Museveni to the district, where he yesterday presided over the function to mark 100 years of Christianity at St. Peters cathedral Nyakatare in Kihiihi Town Council.
Innocent Ampeire 25, a resident of Kahija village Nyakanengo Parish and Denis Asiimwe 19, from Kasoroza village Nyakajeme, Sub county Rukungiri district were knocked dead by the speeding truck at around 6:40 Pm at Kasoroza.
The duo was riding on a motorcycle registration number UED 658F Bajaj Boxer, when they collided with a bicycle rider.
Both the motorcyclist and his passenger fell on the road while the army truck registration number H4DF1049 was approaching and it crashed and killed them instantly, while the bicycle rider took off unhurt.
The army vehicle was being driven by number 139618 Lance corporal Tonny Aginya attached to Busambuga army barracks Entebbe and it was coming from the Kanungu celebrations.
The bodies were picked and taken to Rukungiri Municipal mortuary for postmortem, while the truck and the motorcycle are packed at Rukungiri police station as investigations into the matter continue.
Later on the evening, the Rukungiri RDC Harriet Nakamya arrived at the hospital, with a coffin for the deceased.
