It begins in the mind, a click, a browse, and maybe, lewd keenness of the mind and emotional consumption of lecherous visuals—still and or videos, of couples (not intimate though) having rude, crude, cruel, natural, unnatural, groupie, smooth or violent sex on website this or that.
Much as our moral fabric, as Rwanda, discourages such ogles, the internet has made it so easy for individuals to access porn material in the private of their homes, or wherever they may be.
In a recent report under the auspices of Pornhub Insights, the statisticians indicate that during major holidays, porn sites get more visits than on other days.
On average, according to the report, 27% of the visitors to porn sites are female, 3 points above the global 24%. It is on Sunday that most visitors from Rwanda click onto the sites with 10-11pm being the most popular hours, where most stay on watch for a duration of 11 minutes, on average, compared to the global average of 9 minutes.
The advent of mobile technologies has too contributed to the visits to the porn sites. The report says; “with just 4 percentage points between them, Rwanda’s smartphone-based traffic proportions nearly match up with those we have observed on an international level. The most notable difference here lies with tablet traffic shares.
Worldwide, this accounts for 11% of traffic, whereas in Rwanda this figure drops to just 6%. We’ve noticed similar traffic share breakdowns in Brazil, India and Romania.”
In Rwanda, watching posts include; desktops, 53%, phone—41% and tablets 6%.
Worldwide, the report has established, the average age of a Pornhub user is 35 years. Rwanda’s is a little younger at 33 years of age, which is due to the higher proportions of millennial-aged users. Overall, users aged 18-34 account for about 60% of users worldwide but here that number climbs to 64%. Proportionally speaking, Rwanda also has a younger than average population which also contributes to these figures.
