{ Monitor Publications Ltd (MPL) has produced a souvenir magazine to commemorate Pope Francis’ visit to Uganda. The magazine, which contains special features such as the story of how the Pontiff’s simple approach to the papacy is challenging the world, goes on sale countrywide today at Shs5,000, MPL Managing director, Mr Tony Glencross said yesterday.}
Among the features in the magazine is a story about the miracles that led to the canonisation of the Uganda Martyrs, personality stories of Ugandans who have met the Pope, and profiles of the 180-choir members, chosen to sing as the Pope presides over an Open Air Mass at Namugongo this Saturday.
“The Pope souvenir magazine is as result of long hours of research, study and editing to bring the readers a diverse magazine on the visit of Pope Francis. The shrines, the coverage and the international exposure will be good for Uganda as it will be a way of marketing the country. This magazine gives the readers a good insight into the history and information regarding the visit plus unique pictures and drawings at only Shs5,000. It offers great value,” Mr Glencross said.
“We believe memories are best kept when they are documented. That is the reason we have produced this souvenir magazine for our readers to serve as a memento for the Pontiff’s visit. It is simply written, colorfully illustrated and the various articles answer your information needs about the visit,” said Mr Charles Bichachi, the managing editor for weekly editions.
Mr Alex B. Atuhaire, the Special Projects & Investigations editor, who led the team that produced the magazine, said: “We are confident that the stories in this magazine will become the most comprehensive documentation that puts the visit of Pope Francis to Uganda into perspective for all of us lucky to witness it today and for generations to come”.
