{{Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien will resume his international career with the Ghana Black Stars in September.}}
According to sources from Ghana, Essien now feels ready to return to the Black Stars after a successful loan spell at Spanish giants Real Madrid, after initially having concerns over his fitness.
The midfielder had asked for time off to assess his fitness after suffering two major injuries whilst playing for the Black Stars; one of which cost him a place in Ghana’s 2010 World Cup squad.
Essien is expected to officially confirm his return to the Black Stars after his charity match, “The Game of Hope”, at the Accra Sports Stadium on June 8 2013.
Essien will thus be available to play for the Black Stars in September’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Kumasi.
