{Kamiti Maximum Security Prison warders on Sunday night foiled an escape attempt by prisoners.}
Kenya Prisons Commissioner General Isaiah Osugo said no prisoner escaped.
It is not yet clear how the prisoners had planned to escape but Mr Osugo said the warders were forced to shoot and that “the situation is now under control”.
He also said no one was injured in the incident.
