Kampala stripper protester charged with indecent assault

{A woman who caused public uproar when she appeared to flash her privates at arresting police officers who were taking opposition figure Ingrid Turinawe into custody has been charged with inciting violence. }

According to police spokesperson Fred Enanga, Hamidah Nasimbwa, also faces charges of indecent assault, illegal demonstration and preventing police from doing their work.

Nansibwa reportedly stripped in front of the Police last week who blocked a group of women led by Turinawe from presenting their electoral reform proposal to Parliament.

In the scuffle, Nasimbwa was reportedly stripped, fell, and later fainted before she was rushed to Kasagati Health Centre and then transferred to Mulago. She has since been discharged.

Without giving details, Enanga said Nasimbwa will be charged in court soon, adding that she acted contrary to the law.

“The Police will not accept such indecent acts in public, those who are aggrieved should follow the law as the constitution stipulates but not to cause violence,” Enanga explained.

Enanga added that the police have no problem with the public as long as those who feel dissatisfied follow the law and are free to present their dissenting views to Parliament.

The charges come after Nasimbwa was on Friday discharged from Hospital, where she had been undergoing treatment for the last three days.

In an interview with New Vision, Nasimbwa said she was ready to fight for the rights of Ugandans who are being oppressed.
