Kamili who has been in the district council was elected on Friday by council members.
The Chairperson of Gicumbi council, Dieudonné Kayombya told IGIHE that they are optimistic that Kamili will implement well his responsibilities.
Kamili got 25 votes out of 31, while his competitor Rosette Muzeyemariya got six votes.
“The optimism comes from his experience in the district council, local government leadership and from his job of journalism. He is a good journalist who knows the life of the whole country,” Kayombya explained.
“All those factors make us believe that Kamili will help us to advance the life of the District as we wait for by elections for substantial replacements of the whole executive committee,” he added.
Kamili has been in RBA, especially Radio Rwanda for over ten years.
Gicumbi District committee members resigned on May 25th citing personal reasons. Upon their resignation, the council elected Sewase in acting capacity but he also tendered in his resignation letter yesterday.
