Ghana Melcom-Complex Collapses: 5 Dead, 65 Rescued

Five people are now confirmed to have died, while at least 65 people have been pulled out alive.

The Country’s President John Dramani Mahama said, “Whoever is responsible for this negligence will pay a price.”

“We are going to put in place mechanisms to check the safety and security of other high rise buildings and find out if there aren’t any more such disasters waiting to happen.”

He said he had ordered an investigation into why the building, which opened earlier this year, collapsed.

The six-storey ultra-modern facility ‘Melcom building’ collapsed minutes before it was to commenced daily operations.

The incident has drawn thousands of curious onlookers who are desperate to catch a glimpse of the once glamorous edifice which was commissioned barely a year ago.
