Le d\u00e9c\u00e8s a \u00e9t\u00e9 confirm\u00e9 par son conseiller politique, Abdullah Othman Abdurrahim, dans une publication sur les r\u00e9seaux sociaux, sans fournir de pr\u00e9cisions sur les circonstances. Des m\u00e9dias libyens, citant des membres de sa famille, rapportent que Sa\u00eff al-Islam Kadhafi aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 abattu \u00e0 son domicile \u00e0 Zintan, dans l\u2019ouest de la Libye, par des hommes arm\u00e9s non identifi\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Selon certaines sources proches du dossier, quatre individus masqu\u00e9s auraient fait irruption dans sa r\u00e9sidence, neutralis\u00e9 les syst\u00e8mes de surveillance avant de le tuer, son entourage ayant \u00e9voqu\u00e9 un \u00ab assassinat l\u00e2che et tra\u00eetre \u00bb.<\/p>\n

N\u00e9 en juin 1972 \u00e0 Tripoli, Sa\u00eff al-Islam Kadhafi fut longtemps consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme la figure montante du r\u00e9gime de son p\u00e8re, notamment pour son r\u00f4le dans les tentatives de modernisation politique et d\u2019ouverture diplomatique vers l\u2019Occident au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 2000. Son image s\u2019est toutefois fortement d\u00e9grad\u00e9e lors du soul\u00e8vement populaire de 2011, lorsqu\u2019il s\u2019est rang\u00e9 du c\u00f4t\u00e9 du pouvoir en place et a publiquement d\u00e9fendu la r\u00e9pression du mouvement insurrectionnel.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s la chute de Tripoli, il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 captur\u00e9 par une milice \u00e0 Zintan, o\u00f9 il est rest\u00e9 d\u00e9tenu pendant plusieurs ann\u00e9es. Il avait finalement \u00e9t\u00e9 lib\u00e9r\u00e9 en 2017 dans le cadre d\u2019une amnistie g\u00e9n\u00e9rale. En 2021, sa tentative de retour sur la sc\u00e8ne politique, \u00e0 travers une candidature \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9lection pr\u00e9sidentielle, avait suscit\u00e9 de vives controverses et contribu\u00e9 aux tensions ayant conduit \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chec du processus \u00e9lectoral.<\/p>\n

\u00c0 ce stade, aucune autorit\u00e9 libyenne officielle n\u2019a communiqu\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re d\u00e9taill\u00e9e sur l\u2019enqu\u00eate en cours ni sur l\u2019identit\u00e9 des auteurs de l\u2019attaque.<\/p>\n
