Ancien membre de la Mission des Nations unies pour l\u2019assistance au Rwanda (MINUAR), le G\u00e9n\u00e9ral Adinkra avait jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le crucial dans la protection de milliers de civils r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s aupr\u00e8s des Casques bleus au moment o\u00f9 le pays sombrait dans les massacres.<\/p>\n

Commandant d\u2019un bataillon ghan\u00e9en, il s\u2019\u00e9tait distingu\u00e9 par son sens du devoir et son engagement \u00e0 maintenir la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 des populations menac\u00e9es malgr\u00e9 les risques extr\u00eames.<\/p>\n

Au total, le Ghana comptait environ 850 soldats au sein de la MINUAR en 1994. Parmi eux figurait \u00e9galement le G\u00e9n\u00e9ral Henry Kwami Anyidoho, lui aussi d\u00e9cor\u00e9 par Kigali, qui servait alors comme adjoint du G\u00e9n\u00e9ral Rom\u00e9o Dallaire, commandant de la mission onusienne.<\/p>\n

En 2022, Joseph Narh Adinkra et Henry Anyidoho avaient re\u00e7u \u00ab l\u2019Indengabaganizi \u00bb, une m\u00e9daille rwandaise r\u00e9compensant un courage et un altruisme exemplaires. Cette d\u00e9coration, de forme circulaire, porte en son centre une \u00e9toile \u00e0 cinq branches entourant un arc et deux fl\u00e8ches : des symboles repr\u00e9sentant la bravoure, la force, la protection des autres et la disponibilit\u00e9 \u00e0 se sacrifier.<\/p>\n

L\u2019Indengabaganizi est attribu\u00e9e \u00e0 des individus ou groupes ayant accompli des actes h\u00e9ro\u00efques pour sauver des vies, au p\u00e9ril de la leur. Le d\u00e9c\u00e8s du G\u00e9n\u00e9ral Adinkra ravive l\u2019hommage rendu \u00e0 ces militaires ghan\u00e9ens dont l\u2019engagement, en pleine trag\u00e9die, a permis d\u2019\u00e9pargner de nombreuses vies.<\/p>\n

Le G\u00e9n\u00e9ral Major Joseph Narh Adinkra, l\u2019un des deux militaires ghan\u00e9ens honor\u00e9s par le Pr\u00e9sident Paul Kagame en 2022 pour leur courage exceptionnel durant le g\u00e9nocide perp\u00e9tr\u00e9 contre les Tutsi, est d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 le 4 d\u00e9cembre 2025 des suites d\u2019une maladie.
