\u00ab Au nom du peuple rwandais et en mon nom propre, j\u2019adresse mes plus sinc\u00e8res condol\u00e9ances \u00e0 la famille de l\u2019honorable Raila Odinga, \u00e0 mon fr\u00e8re le Pr\u00e9sident @WilliamsRuto, ainsi qu\u2019au peuple kenyan, suite au d\u00e9c\u00e8s de l\u2019honorable Raila Odinga \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le pr\u00e9sident Kagame.<\/p>\n

Il a salu\u00e9 \u00ab sa d\u00e9votion toute sa vie au service public et son engagement ind\u00e9fectible en faveur de la d\u00e9mocratie, de la justice et de l\u2019unit\u00e9 au Kenya et \u00e0 travers l\u2019Afrique \u00bb, ajoutant que cet h\u00e9ritage restera grav\u00e9 dans les m\u00e9moires pour les g\u00e9n\u00e9rations \u00e0 venir. Le chef de l\u2019\u00c9tat a \u00e9galement exprim\u00e9 la solidarit\u00e9 du Rwanda au gouvernement et au peuple du Kenya en cette p\u00e9riode de deuil national.<\/p>\n

Respect\u00e9 au-del\u00e0 des clivages politiques, Odinga laisse un h\u00e9ritage de patriote engag\u00e9. Le pr\u00e9sident William Ruto, son ancien rival, a annonc\u00e9 une p\u00e9riode de deuil national de sept jours avec les drapeaux en berne, qualifiant son d\u00e9c\u00e8s de \u00ab perte immense et incommensurable \u00bb. Apr\u00e8s sa d\u00e9faite de 2022, Odinga avait rejoint Ruto dans un gouvernement \u00ab inclusif \u00bb, geste qu\u2019il consid\u00e9rait comme essentiel pour l\u2019unit\u00e9 nationale.<\/p>\n

D\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 d\u2019une crise cardiaque alors qu\u2019il se promenait en Inde avec sa famille et son m\u00e9decin, Raila Odinga \u00e9tait une figure incontournable de la vie politique kenyane. Fils de l\u2019ancien vice-pr\u00e9sident Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, il a milit\u00e9 dans les ann\u00e9es 1990 pour la d\u00e9mocratie multipartite et a subi des d\u00e9tentions sans proc\u00e8s pour ses convictions.<\/p>\n

Le corps de Raila Odinga est arriv\u00e9 \u00e0 Nairobi ce jeudi matin, peu avant 10 heures, accueilli par une foule immense et \u00e9mue. \u00c0 la sortie du cercueil de l\u2019a\u00e9roport international Jomo Kenyatta, des milliers de Kenyans ont rendu hommage au leader, brandissant des drapeaux, chantant l\u2019hymne national et scandant des slogans en sa m\u00e9moire. La procession a \u00e9t\u00e9 accompagn\u00e9e par des taxis-motos embl\u00e9matiques, les \u00ab boda bodas \u00bb, symbolisant le lien profond d\u2019Odinga avec\u00a0la\u00a0population.<\/p>\n
