Accompagn\u00e9 du ministre azerba\u00efdjanais de la Jeunesse et des Sports, Farid Gaibov, le Pr\u00e9sident Kagame a parcouru le trac\u00e9 op\u00e9rationnel depuis huit ans, qui accueille des courses de F1 depuis pr\u00e8s d\u2019une d\u00e9cennie et fait partie des 24 circuits au calendrier du championnat de cette ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

La visite co\u00efncidait avec la victoire de Max Verstappen, pilote de Red Bull Racing, lors du Grand Prix d\u2019Azerba\u00efdjan, une victoire qui le rapproche de la reprise de la premi\u00e8re place du championnat, d\u00e9tenue par Oscar Piastri de McLaren.<\/p>\n

L\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, le Pr\u00e9sident Kagame avait confirm\u00e9 la candidature du Rwanda pour accueillir une course de Formule 1, ce qui ferait de la nation est-africaine le premier pays africain h\u00f4te depuis trois d\u00e9cennies. Depuis, des discussions et pr\u00e9paratifs sont en cours, la ministre des Sports, Nelly Mukazayire, confirmant que le projet avance r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement.<\/p>\n

La visite du Pr\u00e9sident Kagame \u00e0 Bakou fait suite \u00e0 ses d\u00e9placements sur d\u2019autres circuits de renom, dont le Marina Bay Street Circuit \u00e0 Singapour et le Lusail International Circuit au Qatar, illustrant l\u2019engagement croissant du Rwanda dans le sport automobile \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle mondiale.<\/p>\n
