Elle a d\u00e9but\u00e9 par un d\u00e9p\u00f4t de gerbes au M\u00e9morial d\u00e9di\u00e9, situ\u00e9 Place du Parc, en pr\u00e9sence de Mme Natacha Vandenberghe, repr\u00e9sentante de la ville de Mons.<\/p>\n<p>Cette ann\u00e9e, la comm\u00e9moration a \u00e9t\u00e9 organis\u00e9e par les rescap\u00e9s du g\u00e9nocide contre les Tutsi vivant \u00e0 Mons, ainsi que par la diaspora rwandaise.<\/p>\n<p>La comm\u00e9moration a rassembl\u00e9 plusieurs personnalit\u00e9s et repr\u00e9sentants d\u2019associations engag\u00e9es dans le devoir de m\u00e9moire, parmi lesquels : Eug\u00e8ne Twagira Mutabazi, President d\u2019Ibuka-M\u00e9moire et Justice Belgique, Gakuba Ernest, pr\u00e9sident de la Diaspora rwandaise en Belgique \u2013 Ir\u00e8ne Kamanzi, pr\u00e9sidente de l\u2019association Is\u00f4ko, qui regroupe les Tutsi originaires de la RDC vivant en Europe \u2013 Arnold Turagara, responsable de DRB-Rugari pour la r\u00e9gion de Mons ; ainsi que d\u2019autres repr\u00e9sentants d\u2019organisations partenaires.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab \u202fNous remercions la  Ville de Mons, qui n\u2019a pas c\u00e9d\u00e9 aux interf\u00e9rences politiques, contrairement \u00e0 d\u2019autres r\u00e9gions o\u00f9 des consid\u00e9rations politiques ont entach\u00e9 les c\u00e9r\u00e9monies de comm\u00e9moration. L\u2019histoire les jugera en temps voulu. Mons, pour sa part, a choisi la voie de l\u2019unit\u00e9 et de l\u2019humanit\u00e9\u202f \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Ernest Gakuba, pr\u00e9sident de l\u2019association des Rwandais vivant en Belgique, DRB-Rugari.<\/p>\n<p>Prenant la parole au nom  de la Ville, Mme Natacha Vandenberghe a rappel\u00e9 avec \u00e9motion que les Tutsi ont \u00e9t\u00e9 massacr\u00e9s lors du g\u00e9nocide de 1994 uniquement en raison de leur identit\u00e9, dans l\u2019indiff\u00e9rence g\u00e9n\u00e9rale.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab \u202fCe fut un massacre auquel aucune r\u00e9sistance n\u2019\u00e9tait possible, car il ne s\u2019agissait pas d\u2019une guerre entre groupes oppos\u00e9s, mais bien d\u2019un plan m\u00e9thodiquement orchestr\u00e9 pour exterminer les Tutsi. Ce crime a d\u2019ailleurs \u00e9t\u00e9 reconnu comme un g\u00e9nocide par les Nations Unies\u202f \u00bb, a-t-elle soulign\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Mme Natacha Vandenberghe a poursuivi son intervention en insistant sur l\u2019importance de nommer clairement les \u00e9v\u00e9nements.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab \u202fDonnons au g\u00e9nocide son vrai nom. Souvenons-nous et aidons les jeunes \u00e0 comprendre cette histoire\u202f \u00bb, a-t-elle exhort\u00e9, appelant \u00e0 une transmission fid\u00e8le et lucide de la m\u00e9moire.<\/p>\n<p>Lors de son allocution, M. Twagira Mutabazi, responsable d\u2019Ibuka \u2013 M\u00e9moire et Justice Belgique, a soulign\u00e9 l\u2019importance fondamentale du devoir de m\u00e9moire. Il a mis l\u2019accent sur le processus de reconstruction qu\u2019ont entrepris les rescap\u00e9s et a d\u00e9nonc\u00e9 les r\u00e9centes tentatives de perturbation des c\u00e9r\u00e9monies de comm\u00e9moration en Belgique.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab \u202fCe devoir de m\u00e9moire est essentiel : il permettra aux jeunes g\u00e9n\u00e9rations de continuer \u00e0 accorder une valeur \u00e9ternelle \u00e0 la vie de nos compatriotes assassin\u00e9s lors du g\u00e9nocide contre les Tutsi\u202f \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Twagira Mutabazi a \u00e9galement r\u00e9it\u00e9r\u00e9 sa demande de rapatriement au Rwanda de la d\u00e9pouille du roi Yuhi V Musinga, actuellement inhum\u00e9e en Belgique, afin qu\u2019elle puisse enfin reposer sur la terre de ses anc\u00eatres.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab J\u2019ai demand\u00e9 au Rwanda de tout mettre en \u0153uvre pour rapatrier la d\u00e9pouille du roi Yuhi V Musinga, \u00e0 Mwima et Mushirarungu \u00bb, a-t-il pr\u00e9cis\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Le responsable de l\u2019association Is\u00f4ko, qui regroupe les Tutsi de la RDC vivant en Europe, a expliqu\u00e9 qu\u2019il participait \u00e0 cette comm\u00e9moration en raison de son importance historique, mais aussi pour rappeler que l\u2019histoire du g\u00e9nocide contre les Tutsi de 1994 au Rwanda est, selon lui, en train de se r\u00e9p\u00e9ter aujourd\u2019hui.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab \u202fIl est profond\u00e9ment regrettable que je sois ici aujourd\u2019hui pour \u00e9voquer la situation tragique qui se d\u00e9roule de l\u2019autre c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la fronti\u00e8re rwandaise, en R\u00e9publique d\u00e9mocratique du Congo, o\u00f9 les massacres d\u00e9passent l\u2019entendement humain. Le gouvernement congolais reste passif, comme ce fut le cas au Rwanda en 1994. En RDC, ce sont actuellement des r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s qui nous massacrent et qui ont mis en place un r\u00e9gime dirig\u00e9 par des g\u00e9nocidaires. C\u2019est cette r\u00e9alit\u00e9 que je suis venu d\u00e9noncer, clairement et sans d\u00e9tour\u202f \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>De son c\u00f4t\u00e9, Arnold Turagara, responsable de DRB-Rugari pour la r\u00e9gion de Mons, a rendu un vibrant hommage aux victimes :<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab \u202fNous nous retrouvons une fois de plus ici \u00e0 Mons, 31 ans apr\u00e8s le g\u00e9nocide contre les Tutsi, pour comm\u00e9morer nos compatriotes assassin\u00e9s en 1994 \u2014 parmi eux des nourrissons, des enfants, des personnes \u00e2g\u00e9es, des femmes. Mais nous ne sommes pas ici pour pleurer : nous sommes ici pour t\u00e9moigner, pour faire entendre la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 sur les horreurs commises.\u202f \u00bb, a-t-il affirm\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Il a pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 que cette comm\u00e9moration a pour but d\u2019instruire les jeunes sur les faits afin qu\u2019ils en prennent pleinement conscience, qu\u2019ils \u0153uvrent pour la justice et contribuent \u00e0 restaurer la dignit\u00e9 humaine.<\/p>\n<p>Il a salu\u00e9 l\u2019action du FPR-Inkotanyi qui, contrairement \u00e0 certains observateurs \u00e9trangers passifs, a choisi d\u2019intervenir pour sauver les survivants, rappelant le r\u00f4le central jou\u00e9 par la jeunesse dans cette lutte, en en faisant un exemple \u00e0 suivre aujourd\u2019hui.<\/p>\n<p>Arnold Turagara a remerci\u00e9 tous les participants venus t\u00e9moigner leur solidarit\u00e9 et a exprim\u00e9 sa profonde gratitude envers la ville de Mons pour son soutien ind\u00e9fectible.<\/p>\n<p>La c\u00e9r\u00e9monie a \u00e9t\u00e9 marqu\u00e9e par le t\u00e9moignage poignant d\u2019Olivier Munyengango, seul rescap\u00e9 de la paroisse de Mukarange, ayant perdu toute sa famille.<\/p>\n<p>Sa famille proche comprenait cinq enfants ainsi que son p\u00e8re et sa m\u00e8re. Le g\u00e9nocide lui a \u00e9galement co\u00fbt\u00e9 de nombreux autres membres de sa famille \u00e9largie.<\/p>\n<p>La 31\u1d49 comm\u00e9moration du G\u00e9nocide contre les Tutsi \u00e0 Mons s\u2019est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e en trois temps : une marche du souvenir, des conf\u00e9rences et des t\u00e9moignages au &#8220;Mons Memorial Museum&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>La troisi\u00e8me partie, traditionnelle, s\u2019est tenue \u00e0 Jemappes, avec une veill\u00e9e de m\u00e9moire ponctu\u00e9e par la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie symbolique de &#8221; l\u2019Igicaniro &#8220;, un moment solennel consacr\u00e9 aux t\u00e9moignages, aux r\u00e9citations po\u00e9tiques et \u00e0 la projection de photos de familles d\u00e9cim\u00e9es ou an\u00e9anties, destin\u00e9 \u00e0 raviver le souvenir de leurs vies.<\/p>\n<p>Cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement fait partie d\u2019une s\u00e9rie de comm\u00e9morations organis\u00e9es dans plusieurs villes de Belgique pour le 31\u1d49 anniversaire du g\u00e9nocide contre les Tutsi. Parmi ces villes figurent Bruxelles, Li\u00e8ge, Namur, Bruges, Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve et Anvers. Les prochaines comm\u00e9morations auront lieu \u00e0 Charleroi le 24 mai 2025, \u00e0 Tournai le 31 mai, et \u00e0 Louvain (Leuven) le 10 juin.<\/p>\n<p>Voici quelques images illustrant la
