Ce point a \u00e9t\u00e9 soulev\u00e9 par l\u2019Envoy\u00e9 sp\u00e9cial de l\u2019Union europ\u00e9enne pour la r\u00e9gion des Grands Lacs, Johan Borgstam, lors d\u2019une conf\u00e9rence de presse tenue \u00e0 Kinshasa ce jeudi 1er mai 2025.<\/p>\n

Borgstam a r\u00e9affirm\u00e9 l\u2019appui de l\u2019UE aux pourparlers de paix en cours entre le Rwanda et la RDC, men\u00e9s avec la m\u00e9diation du Qatar et des \u00c9tats-Unis.<\/p>\n

Il a salu\u00e9 comme une avanc\u00e9e significative la rencontre entre le Pr\u00e9sident Paul Kagame et F\u00e9lix Antoine Tshisekedi \u00e0 Doha, ainsi que la signature, le 25 avril 2025 \u00e0 Washington, de principes visant \u00e0 consolider la paix.<\/p>\n

Il a toutefois insist\u00e9 sur le fait que ces discussions ne doivent en aucun cas occulter les avanc\u00e9es obtenues gr\u00e2ce aux efforts du Pr\u00e9sident Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Il est essentiel que toute nouvelle initiative s\u2019appuie sur les acquis des pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents pourparlers r\u00e9gionaux, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9. Comme vous le savez, le Pr\u00e9sident angolais Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o et son gouvernement ont d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 d\u2019importants efforts dans le cadre du processus de Luanda. Ces d\u00e9marches ont produit des r\u00e9sultats, et il serait contre-productif de repartir de z\u00e9ro. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Ces d\u00e9clarations de Johan Borgstam interviennent alors qu\u2019un accord de paix entre le Rwanda et la RDC est attendu en juin 2025, sous l\u2019\u00e9gide du pr\u00e9sident am\u00e9ricain Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

Par ailleurs, les pourparlers pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment men\u00e9s dans le cadre du processus EAC-SADC ont \u00e9t\u00e9 suspendus au profit d\u2019une nouvelle m\u00e9diation d\u00e9sormais conduite sous l\u2019autorit\u00e9 de l\u2019Union africaine, avec le Togo en tant que principal facilitateur.<\/p>\n
