Ex Shanghai Railway Administration leader gets 10 years in jail for taking bribes

{Kong Zhaoping, a former deputy director of Shanghai Railway Administration, was sentenced to 10 years in jail after taking more than 750,000 yuan (US$120,825) from others, the Shenyang Railway Intermediate People’s Court said Wednesday.}

According to the court, the 55-year-old former official helped a private enterprise owner, surnamed Wei, winning the bidding of a project of Kong’s company in 2007.

Later Kong also offered some assistance to Wei on construction and project funds between 2007 and 2009.

During the two periods, Kong received 200,000-yuan bribes from Wei.

Besides, between 2007 and 2013, Kong also took some 550,000 yuan from Wei and another private enterprise owner Zhang and sought benefits for the two in some projects.
