{"id":9822,"date":"2013-08-19T03:46:29","date_gmt":"2013-08-19T03:46:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/french-minister-predicts-full-employment-by-2025\/"},"modified":"2013-08-19T03:45:48","modified_gmt":"2013-08-19T03:45:48","slug":"french-minister-predicts-full-employment-by-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/french-minister-predicts-full-employment-by-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"French minister predicts \u2018full employment\u2019 by 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-3428 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/french_ministers.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>{{France\u2019s ministers were set a summer holiday homework assignment by President Fran\u00e7ois Hollande: \u201cWhat is your vision of France in 2025?\u201d}}<\/p>\n<p>Ministers will hand in their homework on Monday when the government reconvenes in Paris to prepare for the new term with a seminar on France\u2019s future.<\/p>\n<p>Weekly French magazine Le Point has seen five of these broadly optimistic ministerial essays, handed in early by Hollande\u2019s keenest pupils.<\/p>\n<p>Moscovici\u2019s assessment is massively positive, even if it is tempered by the prediction that France\u2019s position among the world\u2019s top economic powers (it\u2019s currently in 5th place) will drop to 8th or 9th place \u201cif the huge growth of the emerging economies continues apace\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>But France will nevertheless be in a much stronger position than it is now, he writes, predicting full employment and the eradication of public debt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe risks are great but everything is possible,\u201d he states confidently.<\/p>\n<p>{C\u00e9cile Duflot, Housing Minister}<\/p>\n<p>Duflot\u2019s vision is particularly rosy, and thanks to plans she is putting in place, France will benefit from six million new homes and \u201ceveryone will have a roof over their heads in a quality environment\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccess to housing will no longer be a stress factor,\u201d she predicts. \u201cFinding a home will even become a pleasant step in people\u2019s lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She also believes that her pet project, that the state will guarantee payment of rents by 2016, \u201cwill be recognised as a major social advancement\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>{Manuel Valls, Interior Minister}<\/p>\n<p>Valls predicts that policing will be transformed by the Internet and new Web technologies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe already have a Gendarmerie [police] 2.0,\u201d he writes, employing the term used to describe the evolution of the Web from static pages to interactive sites and social media. \u201cBy 2025 France will have a Gendarmerie 3.0.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Without giving away too many details, he adds that \u201csecurity strategies will be driven by technological innovation\u201d which will bring the country\u2019s security forces \u201ccloser to the general population\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>{Christiane Taubira, Justice Minister}<\/p>\n<p>Christiane Taubira hopes that less serious crimes will not necessarily see offenders sent to France\u2019s already chronically overcrowded prisons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJustice needs to be a source of hope for young people,\u201d she says. \u201cYoung delinquents are often those in the most vulnerable situations\u201d for whom prison sentences can be counterproductive.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, she predicts sentences \u201cdesigned to compensate the victims of crimes that will allow offenders to either remain in the community or if imprisoned, to re-integrate more quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Just like Valls, Taubira foresees a justice system \u201cthat is closer to ordinary citizens\u201d as a result of technological advances.<\/p>\n<p>{Arnaud Montebourg, Minister for Industrial Renewal}<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrance will be recognised, once again, as the leading voice among industrialised nations,\u201d writes Montebourg. \u201cThe country will be the world leader in renewable energy and smart grids.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The minister risks not getting an &#8216;A&#8217; grade for this submission, having misspelled \u201cgrid\u201d, referring to more efficient intelligent electricity distribution networks, as \u201cgreed\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Montebourg also predicts that the newly created Public Investment Bank (set up in December 2012), coupled with a reduction in red tape, \u201cwill help the country\u2019s entrepreneurs transform small businesses into large multinationals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>france24<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{{France\u2019s ministers were set a summer holiday homework assignment by President Fran\u00e7ois Hollande: \u201cWhat is your vision of France in 2025?\u201d}} Ministers will hand in their homework on Monday when the government reconvenes in Paris to prepare for the new term with a seminar on France\u2019s future.
