The Supreme Council of Muslims, the highest decision-making organ of the local Islamic fraternity, also sacked his deputy, Sheikh Nsengiyumva Djumatatu.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Kayitare Ibrahim, in charge of conflict management at the Muslim association of Rwanda (AMUR), said the decision is meant to uphold the sovereignty of the association.<\/p>\n
The dismissal of Mufti Sheik Gahutu, follows a cascade of sackings and resignations of several top Islamic leaders in the country, as well as unresolved conflict.<\/p>\n
The conflict is said to stem from bitter power struggle in the association. <\/p>\n
