{{The embattled former president of the Youth League of South Africa\u2019s ruling African National Congress (ANC), Julius Malema, cast aside his financial and legal woes this week to launch a political forum that is expected to eventually mutate into a political party.}}<\/p>\n
In a statement sent to South African media, Mr Malema named the new political forum that he has birthed as the \u201cEconomic Freedom Fighters\u201d. <\/p>\n
Mr Malema said he and others who are behind the formation of the forum would embark on consultative meetings around the country.<\/p>\n
\u201c(The)] Economic Freedom Fighters believe that South Africans should stand up and be counted,\u201d he said, in an email message also urging South Africans \u201ccommitted to real change\u201d to register with the organisation.<\/p>\n
Mr Malema also circulated a second email requesting his supporters to help him collect money that he says he needs to form the new political platform.<\/p>\n
Mr Malema, whose personal property that includes a residential house in the upscale suburb of Sandton, Johannesburg and a farm in the Limpopo Province were sold off by the government in the last month, has however not named any big names in South Africans politics who subscribe to his new political platform.<\/p>\n
The email details why Mr Malema believes the ANC and its coalition partners like the Congress for South African Trade Unions (Cosatu), the South African Communist Party (SACP), and its progeny the ANC Youth League have not been able to provide solutions to the problems facing South Africans.<\/p>\n
