{{As an annual tradition to mark the Rwanda National Police (RNP) anniversary following its establishment in June 2000, the force on Wednesday held a meeting of all District Police Commanders (DPCs) \u2013 the implementation focal points \u2013 yet again to make this year\u2019s exercise a success.}}<\/p>\n

The activities to mark this year\u2019s 13th anniversary also known as \u201cPolice Week,\u201d are scheduled to kick-off on June 11 and end on June 16 under the theme \u201cPolice-Public Partnership for sustainable crime prevention.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Emmanuel K. Gasana reminded the DPCs to own the exercise and involve all stakeholders in different activities scheduled to be conducted in the course of the Police Week.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolicing is partnership,\u201d the IGP stated.<\/p>\n

The activities to mark this year\u2019s police week will be held in all districts across the country.<\/p>\n

They include road safety, anti-GBV and domestic violence and anti-drugs and alcohol campaigns.<\/p>\n

Other planned activities are anti-fire outbreak and environmental protection campaigns, supporting vulnerable families and individuals through rehabilitation or construction of houses for them.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner for Public Relations and Community Policing (PR&CP), ACP Theos Badege told the officers to maximize tools of community policing, a force multiplier, and use media, a vital tool is policing.<\/p>\n

The activities will include sensitizing road users on streets on road safety measures, visiting and counseling conflict-prone families and sensitizing the youth on the dangers of drug abuse.<\/p>\n

Others include awareness on the dangers and use of plastic bags, use of firefighting equipment likes fire extinguishers, use of energy saving stoves (rondereza) and anti-noise pollution.<\/p>\n
