{{The M23 rebels have announced Thursday a ceasefire to allow the U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim visit Goma.}}<\/p>\n

Amani Kabasha, political spokesman for the M23 movement said, “We’ve decided to announce this ceasefire to allow His Excellency Ban Ki-moon to visit Goma as he promised.”<\/p>\n

Ban and Kim, who will spend a few hours in Goma where they will meet local and U.N. officials.<\/p>\n

Kabasha has also demanded that DRC President Joseph Kabila also sign a formal ceasefire. “We’re very happy that Ban Ki-moon is coming to Congo, so he can see the real problems are deeper than what they appear,” he added.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, talks between M23 and Congo’s government in Uganda have stalled.<\/p>\n
