{{Police in Kamonyi District has arrested a woman and her three children for allegedly killing her husband also the father of her children.}}<\/p>\n
Anastasie Mukaruzima, 69, and her children; Alexander Kayiranga 29, Caline Uwamahoro 24 and Clarisse Mutoni, of Jenda cell in Mugina sector allegedly conspired to kill Louis Ruviri 75, who was found dead at his home on May 13.<\/p>\n
The deceased was staying with his alleged murderers.<\/p>\n
The cause of the bloody incident is said to have resulted from land wrangles, police said.<\/p>\n
It is alleged that the suspects, who are currently detained at Mugina police post, on the fateful day at about 9pm, attacked the deceased, who was asleep in his bedroom and stabbed him to death.<\/p>\n
Police said the woman and her children had conspired to grab land from the deceased, which the latter resisted, a thing that could have triggered the tragic act.<\/p>\n
The deceased\u2019s son \u2013 Kayiranga \u2013 police said, had also contested the piece of land given to him as his share saying it wasn\u2019t enough.<\/p>\n
With the backing of her mother and sisters, who also wanted to grab all the land from the elderly man, they allegedly conspired and killed him.<\/p>\n
The Southern Police Spokesperson, Chief Supt. Hubert Gashagaza condemned the inhuman act.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is so unfortunate that such inhuman acts can still be heard in our society, even when people know the alternative to have their grievances solved fairly,\u201d CSP Gashagaza said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether with local leaders and Community Policing Committees and the public, we are now mapping-out families with disputes to help them reach an understanding or channel their grievances to concerned authorities, as a way of preventing such unwanted deaths,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut to effectively prevent such acts, it requires the input of everyone and the public are urged to feed us with information on affected families. The region has also moved on to include crime prevention in its annual performance contract,\u201d he reiterated.<\/p>\n
Murder, which is defined as \u201cintentional killing\u201d under article 140 of the penal code, carries a life sentence upon conviction.<\/p>\n
