{"id":778,"date":"2011-09-08T08:14:56","date_gmt":"2011-09-08T08:14:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/japan-govt-builds-classrooms-at-kayonza-school\/"},"modified":"2011-09-08T08:16:30","modified_gmt":"2011-09-08T08:16:30","slug":"japan-govt-builds-classrooms-at-kayonza-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/japan-govt-builds-classrooms-at-kayonza-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Japan Govt Builds Classrooms at Kayonza School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{{ {Ecole Secondaire de Kayonza} that recently changed its name to \u2018Kayonza Modern School\u2019 located in Nyamirama Sector in Kayonza district,entered a new building of 8 classrooms  built under the assistance of Japan Government. }}<\/p>\n<p>The Japan Ambassador to Rwanda Kunio Hatanaka presided over the inauguration ceremony held September 7.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-626 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/ambassador_waving_the_school_budge.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>On behalf of his government Ambassador Hatanaka pledged continued support from the government of Japan towards Rwanda\u2019s education sector which he said is \u201cmoving in conformity\u201d with the country\u2019s long term development vision 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The building which was constructed in less than 3 months, cost up to Frw 66M and all classrooms will accommodate at least 368 students.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the opening ceremony, Ambassador Hatanaka visited a new laboratory that contains laboratory  equipment for  sciences that was opened late last year.<\/p>\n<p>Talking to {igihe.com}, the Director of the school, Steven Rwamurangwa who with the assistance of the parents founded the school in 1996 noted,<br \/>\n \u201cThe new classes are going to help students study in a conducive environment and reduce the congestions  in classrooms while promoting academic standards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Rwamurangwa, among other achievements attained include a new modernized girls dormitory built under the assistance of a U.S based organization \u2018Barbara Stone Foundation\u2019, a drilled water well from underground with water reservoir that overcomes water  shortage during dry season funded by  \u2018Living Water International\u2019.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-625 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/he_ambassador.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>The school also established  a Media club that helps to disseminate  news to the students funded by both  Ministry of Information and  MINEDUC two years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Janvier Gasana, a representative from MINEDUC challenged teachers and all staff to ensure both academic standards and discipline are emphasized at the school.<\/p>\n<p>Helping the school to recover, in recent years under the assistance of U.S Embassy, the school constructed a Dining Hall, modern football and volleyball pitches, former science laboratory, kitchen, students\u2019 library and the Director of Studies\u2019 office.<\/p>\n<p>The school is also among the few best schools in government\u2019s program of greening and beautifying the environment.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Director, the school  must soon be called a \u2018school of excellence\u2019 at the national level through promoting discipline, academics and the school social values.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have competent and qualified staff and we must reach our target,\u201d Rwamurangwa outlined.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the school started  in 1996  with  the aim of helping children who had come back from Anglophone education system  since the education system in Rwanda by that time was purely Francophone.<\/p>\n<p>The school  now accommodates over 800 students both national and international students with both \u2018O\u2019 and \u2018A\u2019 level teaching all science and arts subjects.<\/p>\n<p>Last year the school emerged the  11 position  countrywide and in 2009 it had 3rd position in science subjects.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-627 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/dsc01754.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{{ {Ecole Secondaire de Kayonza} that recently changed its name to \u2018Kayonza Modern School\u2019 located in Nyamirama Sector in Kayonza district,entered a new building of 8 classrooms built under the assistance of Japan Government. }} The Japan Ambassador to Rwanda Kunio Hatanaka presided over the inauguration ceremony held September 7.
