The law provides that Lawyers assisting extradited fugitives shall receive an equivalent of US$50 per hour. <\/p>\n
Mugesera was extradited from Canada to Rwanda and appeared before court on January 24, 2012.<\/p>\n
On average a court session involving Mugesera\u2019s case takes about six hours.
\nRudakemwa claims he has never received any payments for his services rendered to his client Mugesera battling a genocide case.<\/p>\n
However, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Bizimana Ruganintwari Pascal said that Rudakemwa should be paid after approval of Rwandan Lawyers Bar Association adding that facilitation fees are meant for extradited cases of children and Adults who are unable to secure financial means to proceed with their cases.<\/p>\n
Bizimana added that Mugesera should have declared before that his lawyer has financial limitations that could hinder the progress of his cases.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Lawyers Bar Association will decide whether Me Rudakemwa deserves the facilitation fees,\u201d Bizimana told IGIHE.<\/p>\n
However Rudakemwa said he has written a letter to the Lawyers Association and he has not received any responce.<\/p>\n
