{"id":745,"date":"2011-09-02T08:09:03","date_gmt":"2011-09-02T08:09:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/farmer-launches-one-goat-per-family-project\/"},"modified":"2011-09-02T08:07:57","modified_gmt":"2011-09-02T08:07:57","slug":"farmer-launches-one-goat-per-family-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/farmer-launches-one-goat-per-family-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Farmer Launches \u2018One Goat Per Family\u2019 Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{{Xavier Mugabo a farmer in Rubirizi 1km from Kabeza bus station, wants to use goats to replicate the cattle program.}}<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-554 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/got.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Mugabo&#8217;s 3 acre farming land has over 60 goats which he says will be freely distributed to vulnerable families in his area while other beneficiaries will be from Kanombe sector.<\/p>\n<p>Mugabo notes that he has experienced how a single small- livestock  changed his  life.<br \/>\n\u201cI started with four rabbits then improved to a goat until they multiplied to 30 and later bought a cow and now I have five of them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll these have made me able to pay my children school fees and cover other domestic expenses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is in this respect, though with limited finance that inspired Mugabo to come up with the one goat per vulnerable family of which he\u2019s set to start distributing some.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNormally I\u2019d like to give away those which are already in gestation so that the beneficiary will pass over the calf to their vulnerable neighbour once the goat gives birth,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n<p>Mugabo is currently cooperating with local leaders in various sectors helping him indentify needy people.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s interesting, beneficiaries will be assisted in preparing the goat sheds and trained on feeding and rearing the goats, Mugabo\u2019s veterinary will also perform frequent checkups onto donated goats.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-552 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/gots.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Certainly, if the goats are well taken care of they will provide manure, meat and milk which is rich in cholesterinum and is widely used to cure malnutrition. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe milk will highly improve their nutrition, and on the other hand they can use manure on their kitchen gardens and once they have made enough income they can sell the goat for meat and buy another one, I really want their lives transformed as mine did.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{{Xavier Mugabo a farmer in Rubirizi 1km from Kabeza bus station, wants to use goats to replicate the cattle program.}} Mugabo&#8217;s 3 acre farming land has over 60 goats which he says will be freely distributed to vulnerable families in his area while other beneficiaries will be from Kanombe sector.
