Over 500 residents have gained jobs since the construction of one stop border post.<\/p>\n
New Infrastructure at the area includes; customs offices, Revenue Offices, Migration Offices and the road linking Rwanda and Tanzania is being rehabilitated.<\/p>\n
The development is expected to bolster cross-border trade and reduce the time spent on clearing at the border posts. <\/p>\n
Under the one border post, travelers will access services at one spot unlike in the past when documents were processed at two locations in both countries.<\/p>\n
One stop Border Post is a part of implementing the Common Market Protocol of the East African community.<\/p>\n
Earlier this week the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), which was sitting in Kigali, passed the long-awaited One Stop Border Posts Bill, 2012, paving way for it to become a regional law if assented to by the EAC Heads of State.<\/p>\n
The Bill will provide the framework for establishing One Stop Border Posts (OSBPs) in the five-member bloc in order to facilitate trade and movement of people through the efficient movement of goods and people within the Community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
