{"id":7064,"date":"2013-04-10T07:50:31","date_gmt":"2013-04-10T07:50:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/most-african-countries-frustrate-trial-of\/"},"modified":"2013-04-10T08:00:20","modified_gmt":"2013-04-10T08:00:20","slug":"most-african-countries-frustrate-trial-of","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/most-african-countries-frustrate-trial-of\/","title":{"rendered":"Most African Countries Frustrate Trial of Genocide Fugitives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{{African countries hosting most genocide fugitives are at the forefront of not honouring warrants of arrest of these perpetrators.}}<\/p>\n<p>The head of the Genocide Tracking Unit, Jean Bosco Siboyintore told IGIHE that most african countries never deny nor admit hosting genocide suspects.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They never tell us what they have tried to do in order to bring to book the genocide perpetrators.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>During the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi&#8217;s , a million lives were lost in only a hundred days.<\/p>\n<p>Most perpetrators escaped out of Rwanda and took refuge in countries around the world but mostly in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Most african countries have no extradition treaties with Rwanda, a situation that hinders efforts to deliver justice.<\/p>\n<p>Siboyintore commends countries that have arrested genocide fugitives and handed them for trial to the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR).<\/p>\n<p>He expalined that there is no time limit on the Genocide crime.
