{"id":6861,"date":"2013-03-31T07:37:53","date_gmt":"2013-03-31T07:37:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/egypt-win-african-u-20\/"},"modified":"2013-03-31T07:39:28","modified_gmt":"2013-03-31T07:39:28","slug":"egypt-win-african-u-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/egypt-win-african-u-20\/","title":{"rendered":"Egypt Wins African U-20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{{The young Pharoahs of Egypt have won the African U-20 youth championship beating the Satellites of Ghana 5-4 on penalties.}}<\/p>\n<p>The game ended 1-1 after regulation time with both goals coming through a penalty in the first ten minutes of the game.<\/p>\n<p>Egypt\u2019s S Gomaa superbly converted a penalty to put the North Africans ahead in the fourth minute after his fellow attacker was brought down in the vital area by Nketiah.<\/p>\n<p>The Ghanaians quickly responded two minutes later with Arkoful drawing level through another penalty. <\/p>\n<p>An Egyptian defender in a desperate bid to clear his lines had his foot stuck in the face of Ordje giving the referee no option but to point to the spot for a penalty.<\/p>\n<p>In just seven minutes two goals had been scored, sending the signal it was going to be an electric night of football.<\/p>\n<p>Already the Ghanaians were on a mission of revenge having lost in the opening game to Egypt 2-1.<\/p>\n<p>And it did look like the mission was on course after the quick equaliser.<\/p>\n<p>Jeremiah Arkoful was unlucky when his well bent free-kick took a ricochet of the goal post with nobody to connect the rebound.<\/p>\n<p>Antwi came to the rescue of the Satellites with two brilliant saves in quick succession.<\/p>\n<p>He parried a goal bound flick from Bassam before saving another rebound to keep the Satellites in the game in the 40th minute.<\/p>\n<p>It was the Ghanaians who looked more determined to get the match winner in the second half.<\/p>\n<p>Arkoful again had a superbly taken free-kick whisk agonisingly wide before forcing a great finger tip save from the Egyptian goal keeper with his half volley.<\/p>\n<p>The Egyptians remained resolute and defended well and on few occasions probed for the match winner which proved elusive for both sides.<\/p>\n<p>After 120 minutes of near misses and great piece of defending and goal keeping by both teams the game had to be decided through penalty shootout.<\/p>\n<p>Egypt started woefully with a first miss but quickly recovered after Lawerh also missed his kick.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Anaba again missed his Ghana kick with the Egyptian player converting his last kick which won the Egyptians their fourt African U-20 glory.<\/p>\n<p>{myjoyonline}<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{{The young Pharoahs of Egypt have won the African U-20 youth championship beating the Satellites of Ghana 5-4 on penalties.}} The game ended 1-1 after regulation time with both goals coming through a penalty in the first ten minutes of the game.
