{"id":6712,"date":"2013-03-25T03:41:51","date_gmt":"2013-03-25T03:41:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/gatuna-border-collects-frw100m-weekly\/"},"modified":"2013-03-25T03:44:42","modified_gmt":"2013-03-25T03:44:42","slug":"gatuna-border-collects-frw100m-weekly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/gatuna-border-collects-frw100m-weekly\/","title":{"rendered":"Gatuna Border Collects Frw100M Weekly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{{Tax revenue collected at Gatuna Border has significantly increased from Frw 45M to Frw 100M per week.}}<\/p>\n<p>According to Muhire Paul, Custom Office Manager at Gatuna Border, the number of taxpayers has increased from 1000 to 3500 per week. <\/p>\n<p>The border operates 24hours handling about 200 trucks and 40 small cars that cross the Border to Rwanda.<\/p>\n<p>Butera said most of trucks crossing Gatuna are from regional countries.<br \/>\nHe added that about 75,000 travelers cross the border monthly.<\/p>\n<p>The number of travelers has also increased following an EAC decision to issue a 6-months free visa that allows citizens to travel and stay in a regional country within a period of six month or less.<\/p>\n<p>Travellers through the border noted that a single currency would solve the existing challenges of exchanging money at the border.<\/p>\n<p>EAC officials said they are optimistic that the monetary Union will soon be implemented in line with the common market protocol.<\/p>\n<p>According to Shem B. a Ugandan Minister for EAC Affairs said with the implementation of monetary Union, there is a view of having common currency \u201cSo that we can no longer have problems of money exchange.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-2230 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/GATUNA_TRUCKS.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-2231 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/Minisitiri_Mukaruriza_wambaye_ishati_y_umutuku_na_Minisitiri_wa_Uganda_wambaye_ishati_y_umweru_basura_umupaka.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{{Tax revenue collected at Gatuna Border has significantly increased from Frw 45M to Frw 100M per week.}} According to Muhire Paul, Custom Office Manager at Gatuna Border, the number of taxpayers has increased from 1000 to 3500 per week.
