Residents of Kanserege<\/span> 1 and Kanserege<\/span> 11 in Gikondo<\/span> Sector, Kicukiro<\/span> District have come together to rehabilitate a road that passes through the two cells.<\/em><\/p>\n

The residents are set to raise a total of RWF20<\/span> million for the rehabilitation of the road that connects to the main Gikondo-Nyenyeri<\/span> road.<\/p>\n

 The 500 metres<\/span> stretch of the road has for long been characterised<\/span> by potholes that make it impassable during the rainy seasons, hence resorting to the use of alternative routes. <\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the rainy season, I do not get customers because my shop is along this road and few people pass through it, mainly when it has rained,\u201d Pascal Habinwari<\/span>, who owns a shop along the road told Igihe.com<\/span>.<\/p>\n

He welcomed the idea of fundraising towards the construction of the road, adding that he was among residents who contributed cash, and was awaiting progress.<\/p>\n

Several civil engineers, who are residents of the two cells, offered free consultancy services towards the construction of the road.<\/p>\n

Almost all area residents including prominent personalities contributed towards the project through cash and\/or construction materials depending on income levels.<\/p>\n

 The Chairman of the Itorero<\/span> National Task Force, Boniface<\/span> Rucagu<\/span>, formerly the Governor of Northern Province, who is also a resident in the area, responded to the call by hiring road construction machinery.<\/p>\n

Gerald Ndayisenga<\/span>, the Chairperson of Kanserege1<\/span>, who is serving his second term said that he was glad about the local community\u2019s efforts to work towards a common cause.<\/p>\n

\u201cAm very happy with my people when it comes to sharing developmental ideas ; whether directly or indirectly,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

The new chairperson of Kanserege<\/span> 11 Dina Mukamusoni<\/span> similarly expressed her gratitude towards the residents\u2019 contribution towards development in the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cAm pleased that we are working as a team to contribute towards the development of our area,\u201d she commented.<\/p>\n

The residents of the two cells have certainly taken up the government\u2019s clarion call to always pull together their efforts towards a common cause as a means to ensure the country\u2019s progress. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
