“The issue of the two cases transferred to France remains a major concern for the entire Tribunal. <\/p>\n
Cases were delayed for a long time. However, the ICTR has not just sitting doing nothing,” said Bongani Majola, the Deputy Chief Registrar of the ICTR. <\/p>\n
By end of 2007, the ICTR transferred to France cases of Father Wenceslas Munyeshyaka, former vicar of Saint Famille in Kigali, and Bucyibaruta, former Governor of Gikongoro Prefecture (south).<\/p>\n
Bongani Majola said, however, that the judgment of certain matters relating to genocide is imminent in terms of contacts that the ICTR had with the French judicial authorities.<\/p>\n
“We made it clear that in their system, part of investigation and evidence collection takes much longer than the trial,” he said.
\nBy end of 2014, the ICTR will be closed and pending trial transferred to Rwanda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
