{"id":5817,"date":"2013-02-12T01:53:39","date_gmt":"2013-02-12T01:53:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/hundreds-in-protest-march-against-ictr-aquittals\/"},"modified":"2013-02-12T01:54:47","modified_gmt":"2013-02-12T01:54:47","slug":"hundreds-in-protest-march-against-ictr-aquittals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/hundreds-in-protest-march-against-ictr-aquittals\/","title":{"rendered":"Hundreds in Protest March Against ICTR Aquittals"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-1946 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/Ibuka01-24663.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>{{Hundreds of Rwandans on Monday marched in protest against ICTR decision to acquit two former Rwanda cabinet ministers accused of masterminding Rwanda&#8217;s 1994 genocide.}}<\/p>\n<p>The two ministers are Mugenzi Justin and Mugiraneza Prosper.<\/p>\n<p>Mugenzi was a minister of commerce while Mugiraneza was the minister of public service during genocide time.<\/p>\n<p>Protestors marched to offices of the United Nations tribunal set up to try Genocide cases.<\/p>\n<p>The protest march was organized by the Rwanda Association of Genocide Survivors IBUKA.<\/p>\n<p>Protestors carried placards accusing the tribunal of denying justice to genocide victims.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The international community failed in their response to protect the Tutsi from being killed and now it is failing to provide justice to survivors,&#8221; one of the banners read.<\/p>\n<p>The president of the IBUKA, Jean Pierre Dusingizemungu has said ICTR should stop disrespecting survivors of genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIBUKA stands against any judge who disrespects the survivors,&#8221; He said.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Rwanda&#8217;s top prosecutor expressed dismay over the acquittals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{{Hundreds of Rwandans on Monday marched in protest against ICTR decision to acquit two former Rwanda cabinet ministers accused of masterminding Rwanda&#8217;s 1994 genocide.}} The two ministers are Mugenzi Justin and Mugiraneza Prosper.
