{"id":5732,"date":"2013-02-08T06:42:50","date_gmt":"2013-02-08T06:42:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/kagarama-vulnerable-families-recieve-aid-from\/"},"modified":"2013-02-08T06:41:32","modified_gmt":"2013-02-08T06:41:32","slug":"kagarama-vulnerable-families-recieve-aid-from","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/kagarama-vulnerable-families-recieve-aid-from\/","title":{"rendered":"Kagarama Vulnerable Families recieve Aid from International Charity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{{Fifty families in Kigarama sector are receiving support from an International Charity organization called Hope and Homes for Children (HHC). }} <\/p>\n<p>The organization has been working in Rwanda, in collaboration with the National Commission for Children(NCC), working to ensure that all children living in orphanages have a right to live under family based care, the programme known as deinstitutionalisation. <\/p>\n<p>The support aims at increasing family resilience by keeping children and families together thus preventing children from going to institutions or to the streets. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt HHC we believe that every child should have a chance to grow up in a loving family, which is why we are doing our best to avoid family break down that lead to child abandonment\u201d said Innocent Habimfura.<\/p>\n<p>Habimana is the Head of Programme Management in charge of Community and alternative services at HHC. <\/p>\n<p>He added that this process involves a range of interventions that prevent children from abandonment and separation from their families. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe give support to families to improve their resilience to care for the children and prevent them from abandonment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Families that benefited from the support include former sex workers, house workers and other vulnerable people.<\/p>\n<p>Marie Grace Uwimana, a mother of 5 children resident at Karugira cell, Kigarama Sector in  Kicukiro District joyfully said \u201cHope and Homes for Children workers paid a visit to our home and, have provided us with help in form of training, food and other items to prevent our children from  running away from home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vedaste Uwimana, in charge of Social, economic and development in Karugira cell, a family of 3 people gets 15 kg of rice, maize floor, beans, sosoma and 5 litres of cooking oil.
