{"id":5689,"date":"2013-02-06T08:51:06","date_gmt":"2013-02-06T08:51:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rwandan-among-finalists-for-apps4africa\/"},"modified":"2013-02-06T08:49:53","modified_gmt":"2013-02-06T08:49:53","slug":"rwandan-among-finalists-for-apps4africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rwandan-among-finalists-for-apps4africa\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwandan Among Finalists for Apps4Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thirty finalists have been announced for this year&#8217;s Apps4Africa contest, including one from Rwanda.  <\/p>\n<p>Organized by the U.S. Department of State and Appfrica International, Apps4Africa 2012: Business Challenge is an Africa-wide competition that encourages African technologists, software developers, and entrepreneurs to develop innovative mobile, web, and desktop applications (&#8220;apps&#8221;) that address the challenge of youth unemployment on the continent.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 300 entries from 27 countries were submitted this year.  On January 29, thirty finalists-representing 13 countries across the continent-were announced on the Apps4Africa blog:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/blog.apps4africa.org\/2013\/01\/29\/apps4africa-2012-finalist-announcement\/<\/p>\n<p>The Rwandan finalist is Jean Luc Intumwayase, of INTUMWA LTD, a medium size company that develops software applications with a vision to promote the use and appreciation of ICT in Rwanda.<\/p>\n<p>Expert judges are now voting on the apps, and three winners will receive US $10,000.  <\/p>\n<p>Following the competition, Apps4Africa winners will continue to work with Appfrica International to secure additional<br \/>\nmentorship, training, and networking support.<\/p>\n<p>The Apps4Africa competition is now in its third year.
