{"id":56805,"date":"2026-01-11T08:12:18","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T08:12:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/domestic-visits-to-rwanda-s-national-parks-increase-by-more-than-6-000-in-2024\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T17:45:42","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T17:45:42","slug":"domestic-visits-to-rwanda-s-national-parks-increase-by-more-than-6-000-in-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/domestic-visits-to-rwanda-s-national-parks-increase-by-more-than-6-000-in-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwandans visiting national parks increased by more than 6,000 in 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This data comes from the latest Rwanda Statistical Yearbook.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, Rwandans accounted for 30% of all visitors to the three main national parks: Akagera, Volcanoes, and Nyungwe.<\/p>\n<p>By comparison, visits by foreign residents in Rwanda grew more gradually, from 3,142 in 2008 to 8,491 in 2024, representing 6% of total visitors.<\/p>\n<p>International visitors from abroad continued to dominate, making up 64% of the total (96,271 visitors) in 2024, from 70% (30,151 visitors) in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, visits to Rwanda&#8217;s national parks have grown dramatically over the past two decades.
