{{Twenty Seven Police officers on January 31 completed a four-day Interpol training aimed at imparting skills and knowledge to the officers on the use of Interpol tools 1-24\/7.}}<\/p>\n
1-24\/7 is an information sharing strategy used or shared by Police institutions across the world with the purpose of fighting against cross border crimes such as human and drug trafficking among others.<\/p>\n
Some people after committing crimes decide to flee and hide in other countries especially due to fear of getting arrested by law enforcing organs of where they committed the crimes.<\/p>\n
The 1-24\/7 therefore helps Police institutions to have accessibility on the hideouts of such criminals and subsequently extradite them to their
\nrespective countries to face justice.<\/p>\n
During the four day training, the officers were taught on the use and how to search Interpol databases, Interpol Notices\/ diffusions and National Central Bureau
\nService Standards.<\/p>\n
According to chief Inspector of Police Ismail Baguma, the Director of Interpol in Rwanda National Police, a similar training is set to begin on February 5, 2013.<\/p>\n
Officiating at the closing ceremony, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Christopher Bizimungu, the Commissioner for Criminal investigation
\nDepartment (CID) underscored the need for continued training in specialized fields to ensure that police officers are equipped with necessary skills and abilities to respond to today\u2019s emerging crimes.<\/p>\n
He thanked trainers for their dedication and commitment attached to this first ever locally conducted course.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis training is in line with RNP\u2019s plan of expanding the I-24\/7 system to frontline officers at the borders and Airports to enhance existing
\nmechanisms in combating transnational crimes,\u201d said ACP Bizimungu.<\/p>\n
I-24\/7 system is an INTERPOL global secure communication operating in a 24 hour and 7 days service with tools designed to facilitate police in transnational investigations.<\/p>\n
54 police officers will undergo the 1-24\/7 system in preparation for the extension of the programme beyond NCBs.ls designed to facilitate police in transnational investigations.<\/p>\n
