{"id":5481,"date":"2013-01-29T06:29:44","date_gmt":"2013-01-29T06:29:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/mtn-launches-portable-renewable-energy-system\/"},"modified":"2013-01-29T07:18:15","modified_gmt":"2013-01-29T07:18:15","slug":"mtn-launches-portable-renewable-energy-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/mtn-launches-portable-renewable-energy-system\/","title":{"rendered":"MTN Launches Portable Renewable Energy System"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{{MTN, Rwanda\u2019s mobile network operator, has launched a portable solar energy system called the \u2018Comeka ReadySet, that is designed to have a significant impact on the lives of Rwandans living off-grid or without regular access to electricity.}}  <\/p>\n<p>Distributed by MTN Rwanda, the \u2018Comeka ReadySet\u2019 which is a multifunctional energy system that can charge mobile phones as well as power lights, radios, tablets, and other devices, also provides Rwanda\u2019s enterprises and small medium businesses an opportunity to earn additional revenues from a phone charging business.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Comeka ReadySet\u2019 is already available in MTN Service Centers and dealer shops at Rwf 115,000. It is designed in the United States, California, by Fenix International. <\/p>\n<p>According to MTN Rwanda officials the system\u2019s battery draws its energy from a 15-Watt solar panel and offers a mains adapter for when the sun is not shining.<\/p>\n<p>MTN is the first telecom in the country to pilot a renewable energy system as a way to improve energy and telecommunications access for all Rwandans. <\/p>\n<p>Robert Rwakabogo, the Snr. Manager Marketing Operations at MTN Rwanda said, \u201cIn addition to charging phones off an environmentally-friendly and cheap source of power, the \u2018Comeka ReadySet\u2019 solution can also provide power for night lighting.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis can help business owners keep their shops open for longer and generate extra earnings.
