{"id":51871,"date":"2024-11-11T10:22:24","date_gmt":"2024-11-11T10:22:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rwanda-s-consumer-prices-rose-by-3-8-in-october\/"},"modified":"2024-11-12T11:27:47","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T11:27:47","slug":"rwanda-s-consumer-prices-rose-by-3-8-in-october","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rwanda-s-consumer-prices-rose-by-3-8-in-october\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwanda&#8217;s consumer prices rose by 3.8% in October"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) report, released on Sunday, November 10, 2024, shows that in October 2024, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 1% year-on-year but increased by 3.7% on a monthly basis.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, prices for housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels rose by 4.8% year-on-year and 0.8% month-on-month, while transport cost increased by 15.9% year-on-year but remained stable month-on-month.<\/p>\n<p>Meat saw a price increase of 22.4% year-on-year, while milk, cheese and eggs, rose by 14.8%.<\/p>\n<p>Prices of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and narcotics rose by 5.6% annually, while clothing and footwear increased by 5.6%.<\/p>\n<p>The data also indicate that prices for local products increased by 3.3% annually and 1.9% monthly, while imported products rose by 5.5% annually and 0.4% monthly.<\/p>\n<p>Prices for fresh products increased by 0.8% year-on-year and 4.5% month-on-month, while energy prices rose by 1% annually and 0.3% monthly.<\/p>\n<p>Excluding fresh products and energy, the &#8216;general index&#8217; increased by 5.2% on an annual basis and by 0.7% monthly.<\/p>\n<p>The Urban CPI, considered the primary measure of inflation in Rwanda, is calculated based on approximately 1,622 products across twelve urban centers.
