{"id":51487,"date":"2024-09-24T14:22:29","date_gmt":"2024-09-24T14:22:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/bralirwa-donates-hygiene-materials-engages-community-on-cleanup-activities-on\/"},"modified":"2024-09-24T14:22:18","modified_gmt":"2024-09-24T14:22:18","slug":"bralirwa-donates-hygiene-materials-engages-community-on-cleanup-activities-on","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/bralirwa-donates-hygiene-materials-engages-community-on-cleanup-activities-on\/","title":{"rendered":"BRALIRWA donates hygiene materials, engages community on cleanup activities on World Cleanup Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Under the global theme, \u2018Make Room For Life\u2019, Bralirwa, Rwanda\u2019s leading beverage company, joined efforts with the cooperatives working along the shores of Lake Kivu in Nyamyumba sector in clean-up activities and discussions on waste management, in commemoration of the global cleanup day.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2023, the United Nations General Assembly resolutions proclaimed 20th September as World Cleanup Day, with the purpose of raising awareness of the role that clean-up efforts play in sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>The community was thrilled to engage in the activities and awareness discussions on how to conserve the natural environment through a shared sense of responsibility. <\/p>\n<p>Bralirwa Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications, Mrs. Rosette Mutoni, explained how environmental sustainability is one of the pillars under the company\u2019s Brew a Better World agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSustainability and responsibility are an integral part of how operate as a business. While the road to a waste-free world is long, initiatives like World Cleanup Day serve as a platform to foster environmental awareness and advocate for sustainable practices that are crucial to achieve a healthier and cleaner planet,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>Yoram Maniraguha, a representative from one of the cooperatives working at the shore of Lake Kivu, appreciated the learnings from the day\u2019s activities and pledged his commitment in promoting environmental healthy practices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParticipating in the cleanup activities today made me realize how much of a difference we can make together. It&#8217;s not just about picking up trash\u2014it&#8217;s about taking ownership of our community and setting an example for future generations to care for the environment,\u201d said Yoram.<\/p>\n<p>In his appreciation remarks, the Mayor of Rubavu, Mr. Prosper Mulindwa commended Bralirwa for the great initiative as well as donation of garbage collection bins to the cooperatives and called upon residents to be more vigilant in keeping the shores and the city clean.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHealthy practices are a result of continuous awareness that effects long term behavior change. Today, we are reminded that the health of our planet is in our hands.
