As tabulated by the AP, Romney got 47.2 percent of the full presidential vote.<\/p>\n
He did a bit better – 48.0 – if you just look at the two top candidates.<\/p>\n
That number – 47% – resonates in the context of the race because of Romney’s infamous ” 47% ” comments that seemed to have an effect on the race.<\/p>\n
In hidden camera video clips, which were posted by Mother Jones, Romney was seen telling Florida telling donors that 47% of voters will chose Obama “no matter what” because they are people “who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. <\/p>\n
That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what\u2026These are people who pay no income tax.”<\/p>\n
“My job is not to worry about those people,” Romney says in the video. “I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”<\/p>\n
