{{The Minister of Trade and Industry Francois Kanimba has said Rwanda\u2019s economy continues to grow due to accelerated and sustained by a dynamic and competitive private sector.}}<\/p>\n
The Minister was yesterday presenting MINICOM\u2019s 2012 achievements.
\nCommenting on industrial performance the Minister said from January to November 2012, Turnover of industries increased by 33.9% compared to the same period in 2011.<\/p>\n
It was noted that merchandise exports from both formal and informal trade accounted for US$ 467M and imports US$1,801 billion up 25.85% and 14% respectively over 2011.<\/p>\n
Between January and October 2012, Rwanda\u2019s total merchandise trade was US$2.47 billion.<\/p>\n
GDP contribution of Agriculture, Industry and Services are: 4%, 6%, and 12% respectively. <\/p>\n
To date average GDP Growth 2011-2012 at national level stands at 7.7%.<\/p>\n
Among other things, Trade Minister said that in Rwanda 287 standards were harmonized with EAC in 2012 as against 212 standards in 2011, representing an increase of 35.4%.<\/p>\n
Rwanda Bureau of Standards reviewed 115 standards in 2012 and 96 standards were developed in 2012 as against 80 in 2011, equivalent to 20% increase.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
