The purpose is to determine whether he is fit to stand trial. <\/p>\n<p>The trial began on October 9, with Basabose absent due to health issues. Basabose&#8217;s health concerns were noted in August 2022, with a recommendation to place him in a medical facility due to mental disorders. <\/p>\n<p>Despite these issues, the court decided on June 21, 2023, that the trial would proceed. <\/p>\n<p>Both suspects face charges related to genocide and war crimes, with Twahirwa also accused of rape.
